Crafting a digital platform for luxury yacht charters

1Overview

As the global yacht market continues to grow – reaching $6.4 billion in 2022 and expecting to maintain a growth rate of more than 8% in the coming years – OceanLux, with 40 years of international experience in yacht charters, sought to specialize in luxury offerings.

Working alongside OceanLux’s leadership team, we developed a digital platform tailored to high-end clientele, facilitating super yacht rentals worldwide, with an average ticket of $180K per week.

From strategy to front-end and back-end development, we created a platform focused on positioning the brand and attracting leads globally.

01. Bringing the luxury experience online

Our partnership began by crafting a refined aesthetic aligned with OceanLux’s premium offerings, introducing new naming and branding that enhanced the company’s digital identity and built trust with the target audience. As we aimed to embody a sense of luxury, showcasing high-quality images and emphasizing visual elements and photography became crucial to ensure a sleek and immersive user experience.

Additionally, we placed strategic touchpoints across the platform to encourage user interaction and engagement, making inquiries and consultations effortless.

02. Enhancing flexibility with a headless CMS

We integrated DatoCMS, a user-friendly ad-hoc CMS similar to WordPress, allowing OceanLux to manage yacht details, availability, and pricing seamlessly. This flexibility empowered OceanLux to update content without developer intervention, including generating visually appealing brochures in seconds.

Decoupling the CMS, back-end, and front-end enabled us to leverage various technologies to create a tailored stack, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. Platforms like DatoCMS and Netlify, alongside the Vue.js framework, provided the flexibility needed for OceanLux’s requirements.

03. Adapting the user experience to international demands

Understanding the diverse preferences of luxury yacht enthusiasts worldwide, we tailored the user experience to accommodate language, currency, and regional preferences. This involved analyzing purchaser profiles and charter industry intricacies to refine product listings, descriptions, and filtering options.

Prioritizing speed, our selected CMS incorporated a Content Delivery Network (CDN), which optimized loading times by delivering content from servers closest to users worldwide, guaranteeing a top-notch experience regardless of location.
